(sphere) Films James Webb Space Telescope JWST for NASA
(sphere) was given exclusive and unprecedented access to the James Webb Space Telescope inside the world’s largest clean room at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in order to create a high resolution immersive VR experience. The opportunity to be this close to an object that may change our understanding of the universe when it launches into space later this week was unbelievable. You too can experience it in your VR headset using the video link below.
NASA describes the James Webb Space Telescope as a time machine that will look back to the earliest formation of stars and galaxies in the universe. The JWST is the largest NASA project since Apollo and will replace the Hubble Telescope. (sphere) worked directly with NASA photographer Chris Gunn and NASA principal media producer Mike McClare.
The 18 karat gold plated reflective mirror feels almost alive and you can not help but stare at it once you enter the clean room. We were told that not even the BBC was not allowed inside. The JWST was filmed at the Goddard Space Flight Center outside of Washington DC using the Sony A7r2 and uploaded at 8K.
